On October 7th we had the opportunity to interview Mr. Douglas Janoff, an officer of the Canadian Foreign Service and author of the book Pink Blood: Homophobic Violence in Canada . Douglas is also a Diplomat in Residence at the Patterson School for Diplomacy and International Commerce of the University of Kentucky. He is currently pursuing a PhD and his research focuses in multilateral LGBT human rights diplomacy.
The interview revolved around topics such as the role of multilateral agencies like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in supporting human rights, the role of multilateral diplomacy in influencing domestic legislation to protect sexual minorities, LGBTQIA human rights and cultural relativism, sexual nationalism and freedom of speech.
